The main objective of the department is to produce computer professionals who can face the challenges of the IT industry and provide digital solutions in the job market. It is a matter of great satisfaction that students and faculty act in unison to make teaching-learning process highly purposeful

Department has young & highly motivated faculties with good academic experience.
The department is well equipped with 04 laboratories with 173 computers.
The Department has formed a student association IT-CLUB under which cultural & technical events are organised.
Department has organize CRT, Soft Skill & Technical Skill development programs for students in coordination with T&P Department.

Experiential – Real Time Projects
The programme emphasizes on Experiential Learning that allows learners to apply concepts learnt in the classroom in simulated and real-time situations. SDMC provides the necessary ecosystem to encourage students to get engaged in socially relevant real-time projects.
Blended Learning- 24 * 7
At SDMC, we follow the concept of Blended learning where we combine the classroom teaching with online learning and independent study, allowing the student to have more control over the time, pace and style of their learning. Leaners can access engaging learning material at their own pace through lecture videos, student notes, curated contents, etc., through a learning management platform that is engaging and mobile-friendly.
Holistic development of students
The SDMC campus is always abuzz with various student-run clubs. From photography, singing, dancing, theatre, trekking to innovation, there are clubs to meet everyone’s interests
The department plays a vital role in nurturing students with up-to-date knowledge in Computer Science & Engineering.
Bridge courses conducted by the department provide opportunities for the students to strengthen the pre-requisites required for various courses in the curriculum
Another highlight of the department is that it shows a keen interest in offering short term/add-on courses apart from the courses in the curriculum, for uplifting the students to meet the growing needs of the industry.
Workshops and hand-on sessions are conducted on a regular basis, to put on practice, the theoretical concepts learned in the classrooms.
To broaden their knowledge in the emerging technologies, the department frequently conducts seminars and invited talks with the support of experienced resource persons from the industry.

Association & Activities

The department through the Association “IT-CLUB”, encourages the students to participate in the activities such as literary, cultural and extension. The activities include School Teaching, Group Discussions, Student seminars, Guest lectures, Quizzes, Student Projects and Wall magazine. The above activities are planned and organized systematically by the students with the guidance of faculty members.
Recently computer science students‘organizationIT-CLUB has taken survey of 238 ANGANAVADIs of Belthangadytaluk to identify the problems and status of each school in association with ROTARY CLUB OF BELTHANGADY. Members of the association visited these ANGANAVADI schools and they interacted with the teacher, students and villagers. Students also recorded the answer to questioner printed on the survey sheet provided to them.
