The objective of the department is to create awareness about and foster excellence in Kannada language, literature and cultural traditions along with the inculcation of creativity and values of life. The department not only offers Kannada as a language to students but also as an optional subject to Arts Stream. Students receive practical-oriented learner centred trainings through seminars, workshops, conferences, field visits and creative writing activities. The department also conducts technology enabled classes which encourages the Students to participate in seminars and presentations
