Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering trains students to plan, design and deliver the built environment — structures, transportation, water and environmental systems. Given the department's Western Ghats location, coursework carries a strong emphasis on hill-terrain construction, watershed management and sustainable materials.

To produce civil engineers who plan and build safe, sustainable and resilient infrastructure suited to Karnataka's varied terrain and climate.
- Ground students in structural, geotechnical, transportation and environmental engineering fundamentals.
- Provide field and surveying experience from the first year through active local site partnerships.
- Build expertise in sustainable materials and hill-terrain construction relevant to the region.
- Partner with district and municipal bodies on live infrastructure and watershed projects.
- PEO1: Graduates will work in structural design, construction management and infrastructure development.
- PEO2: Graduates will pursue higher education in structural, geotechnical or environmental engineering.
- PEO3: Graduates will practise engineering with attention to safety, sustainability and community impact.
- PSO1: Analyse and design structural and geotechnical systems using modern codes and software.
- PSO2: Apply sustainable and terrain-appropriate construction practices to regional infrastructure projects.
Course Outcomes for structures, geotechnical and transportation subjects are reviewed each semester and filed with the department.
