The Empowerer

“Shri Veerendra Heggade, inspired by humanity.”

One of the biggest disadvantages of the lopsided development of our society is that villages tend to be ignored by the administrative authorities. In spite of various government rural development schemes, rural India remains a sector in need of more progressive initiatives.

It is this observation that guides Dr. Heggade’s frequent trips to rural areas where he makes it a point to listen to the woes of the villagers. An important observation that he noted in these visits is that when the breadwinner of the family falls prey to a bad habit or an addiction, the problems faced by the already marginalised families intensifies.

Realising the need to find solutions, Dr. Heggade initiated several rural upliftment programmes that follow the Gandhian idea of rural welfare. He strongly believes that the bulk of Indian society resides in the villages and it is therefore the need of the hour to build a stable, strong and civilised life for villagers across the country.

Women Empowerment

“There is no tool more effective than the empowerment of women.”

Realizing that the women and children in rural India too need urgent help, Dr. Heggade introduced special self-help programs like Jnana Vikasa and SIRI that taught women to empower themselves and live with dignity and self respect. Creating employment opportunities was also a huge part of such programs.
