‘Aatidonji Dina’ Celebration

The annual celebration of “Aatidonji Dina” was commenced on August 10, 2024. Dr. Diva Kokkada, a lecturer of SDM Degree College, officially opened the event, emphasizing the significance of this traditional occasion. She remarked that it is essential to understand the culture and traditions passed down from our ancestors, who endured numerous challenges throughout their lives. This event served the purpose of familiarizing the younger generation with the rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu.

Students and teachers from grades 1 to 10 assembled at the assembly yard to participate in “Aatidonji Dina.” Students from classes 8A and 8B prepared and presented traditional Aati delicacies, like Patrode, Ellunde, Halasina gatti, rice laddu, and Guriyappa, for an exhibition. Additionally, the grade 9 students displayed tools and antiques that belonged to their grandparents.

The special lunch organized for “Aatidonji Dhina” included a diverse menu featuring ‘Limbeda Uppad’, ‘Tekkare Pacchudi’, ‘Neerkukku Chutney’, ‘Uppad Pacchir Palya’, ‘Pelata Ire Kottige’, ‘Kanchal Ambade Menaskai’, ‘Kanile Munge Padengi Gasi’, ‘Nurgetappu Peltari Sukka’, ‘Sarnadde Payasa’, ‘Tevu Tetla’, ‘Tevuda Dant Ambade Sambar’, ‘Tojank Vade’, ‘Kumbuda Pulikoddel’, ‘Chattambade’, and ‘Pelata Happala’, accompanied by rice, yogurt, and buttermilk. Mr. Manmohan Naik, Principal of SDM English Medium School (CBSE), was also present at the event and addressed the attendees.
