For students who feel that mathematics is as hard as iron, a conducive environment for learning math in an easy, simple, and engaging manner can be created. When mathematics is simplified, students will participate enthusiastically in learning. Former Head of the Mathematics Department at St. Agnes College, Mangalore, Adelaide Saldanha, mentioned that certain math lessons can be taught through models using the ‘Origami’ method. As a resource person, she demonstrated to the students how to create various mathematical concepts through origami models.

Using flat paper, she taught students how to create 3D dimensional concepts, make 24-sided polygons with colorful paper, and create essential patterns and shapes in mathematics, such as dodecahedrons. She also demonstrated the skills of creating math models through crafts, teaching embroidery patterns through math, preparing parabola models on origami sheets, and many other creative techniques.

Alida Noronha was present as an assistant to the resource person. College Principal, Mr. Sunil Pandit, presided over the event and offered his best wishes. Mrs. Dhanalakshmi, Head of the Mathematics Department, along with lecturers Priya and Krishnaprasad, were also present. Math teachers from other colleges and high schools under the S.D.M. institutions attended the event. Lecturer Priya welcomed the gathering, and Krishnaprasad offered thanks and presented the event.
