Founded in 1940 under the patronage of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala—nurtured by Late Sri D. Manjayya Heggade and Late Sri D. Ratnavarma Heggade—Siddhavana was conceived on Mahatma Gandhi’s Nai Talim (basic education through craft and agriculture). In 1966, the prestigious SDM College and SDM PU College were born right inside the premises of Siddhavana Gurukula.
