Sacred Heritage

The Abode of Dharma & Philanthropy

Dharmasthala, located on the banks of the Netravathi River in Karnataka, is a renowned temple town with a history spanning over 800 years. Centered around the centuries-old Sri Manjunatha Temple, a place of Hindu pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is a unique symbol of secularism and divine harmony, where the temple is administered by a Jain Heggade family and rituals are conducted by Vaishnava priests. The Netravathi River flows through the famous pilgrimage place Dharmasthala and is considered one of the holy rivers of India.

At the heart of Dharmasthala's ethos is the concept of 'Anna Dana' (free food), 'Aushadha Dana' (medicine), 'Vidya Dana' (education), and 'Abhaya Dana' (fearlessness). Under the visionary stewardship of the Heggade family—most notably Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade—these four traditional pillars of charity have evolved into massive socio-economic and educational initiatives that uplift thousands.
