UGC & INC Guidelines

Ragging is a criminal offense as per the rulings of the Honorable Supreme Court of India. SDM Nursing College strictly adheres to the UGC Regulations and Indian Nursing Council (INC) guidelines on curbing the menace of ragging.

What Constitutes Ragging?
  • Any conduct by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing or treating a fresher with rudeness.
  • Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities causing physical or psychological harm.
  • Forcing a student to perform any act which generates a sense of shame, torment, or embarrassment.
  • Financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher.

Consequences of Ragging

Depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Committee, those found guilty may face one or more of the following punishments:

Suspension

Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.

Scholarship Cancellation

Withholding or withdrawing scholarships, fellowships, and other benefits.

Hostel Expulsion

Immediate expulsion from the hostel and mess facilities.

Exam Debarment

Debarring from appearing in any sessional, university, or other tests.

Expulsion from Institution

Rustication from the institution for periods ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.

Police FIR

Mandatory lodging of FIR with local police against the perpetrators.

Mandatory Affidavit
