Introduction
With the Atal Innovation Mission's vision to 'Cultivate one Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators', our school is equipped with a well-furnished and neatly managed Atal Tinkering Laboratory (ATL). The primary objective of this lab is to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and nurture imagination in young minds. Through engaging activities and resources, the ATL aims to inculcate crucial skills such as design thinking, computational thinking, adaptive learning, and physical computing, empowering the next generation of innovators.
ATL in our school is a workspace where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it-yourself mode; and learn innovation skills. Young children are getting a chance to work with tools and equipments to understand the concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). ATL contains educational and learning ‘do it yourself’ kits and equipments on – science, electronics, robotics, open-source microcontroller boards, sensors and 3D printers and laptops. Other worth mentioning facilities include meeting rooms and video conferencing facility.
In order to foster inventiveness among students, ATL in our school is participating in different activities ranging from regional and national level competitions, exhibitions, workshops on problem solving, designing and fabrication of products, lecture series etc. at periodic intervals.
Our Achievements in this area spans a wide range of appreciations and awards:
- From our school, two students - M Sohan Shetty and Pavan Krishna A.D were awarded as future scientists for being on the top of 400 teams in ATL Marathon 2022-23 for the project named “Smart Solar Tracker”.
- From our school, two students - Jnandeep Rao and Ruthwik R Shetty were awarded as future tycoons for being on the top of 500 teams in ATL Marathon 2023-24 for the project named “Oil Extractor Hair Mat”.
- `My ATL` has been developed for filling up the details by the schools and submitting their monthly reports. It is mandatory for all the schools to fill the details on the dashboard, as this gives Atal Innovation Mission an opportunity to recognize their active participation and achievements, and determine the suitability for next tranche of grant disbursement. Our school received ATL of the month certification for June 2023, October 2023 and August 2024.
