      Library Resources and Facilities<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

      Housed in a modern two-storied building spanning 1,306 sq. mtrs, the SDMIT Library offers state-of-the-art amenities and a user-friendly environment. The facility accommodates 300 users in a centralized space and follows an open access system to enhance ease of use.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Our extensive and diverse collection comprises over 38,019 printed resources, including books, reference materials, bound volumes, national and international technical journals, encyclopedias, and multimedia content. The library subscribes to 22 technical journals, 26 magazines, and 16 daily newspapers in both English and Kannada.<\/span><\/p>\n

      In the digital realm, the library provides access to 3,820+ e-journals and 14,132 e-books via the VTU e-Resource Consortium, along with subscriptions to IEEE (which offers 204 e-journals and 1,800 conference proceedings). All digital resources are IP-based and accessible through the Digital Library, both on campus and remotely.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Routine operations such as data entry, information storage, OPAC search, circulation, and barcoding are managed using an in-house developed EERPMS software, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.<\/span>
      \nAs per AICTE and VTU norms, SDMIT Library maintains consortium memberships and holds affiliations with leading networks to support scholarly research.<\/span><\/p>\n

        • NITK Library<\/strong>: Access to NITK resources for all faculty and students.<\/span><\/li>\n

            SDMIT Library is organized into several specialized sections and offers a host of services to cater to the academic and research needs of the community:<\/span><\/p>\n

            • Reference Section: I<\/span>ncludes specialized resources for on-site consultation in Science and Technology and other Resources.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • OPAC Counter<\/span>: Enables users to search for available resources efficiently.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Periodical Section<\/span>: Journals, magazines, and newspapers available for free access<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Digital Library Section<\/span>: Access to online resources and institutional digital collections.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Issue Section<\/span>: Students may borrow up to four books for one week.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Back Volume Section<\/span>: Bound volumes of journals for archival reference<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Inter-Library Loan<\/span>: Book exchange facility with other libraries.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Overnight Issue<\/span>: Provision for high-demand books to be borrowed overnight.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Donated Books Section<\/span>: Collection of rare, donated works.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • ST Students Section<\/span>: Books procured under government schemes for the benefit of ST students.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • CD-ROM Section<\/span>: Educational CDs and DVDs for reference<\/span><\/li>\n
            • New Arrivals Display<\/span>: Newly acquired books are prominently displayed<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Newspaper Clippings<\/span>: Maintains a collection of noteworthy articles on topics such as technology, placements, and academics.<\/span><\/li>\n

              SDMIT Library also upholds memberships with DELNET, NITK and NDL and supports institutional content storage through the DSpace Digital Library Software, ensuring seamless access to both print and digital scholarly materials.
