Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Psychology organized a two days National conference on Sambandha, Sampreethi and Sangharsha: The dynamics of human relationships at SDM PG Centre, Ujire on 24th and 25th of February 2019. The conference was formally inaugurated by Dr. M.Y. Manjula, Professor, Christ University, Bangalore with the lighting of the lamp and releasing the book of abstracts. Prof. T N Keshava, Principal, SDM College, Dr. B. Ganapayya, Dean, SDM PG Centre were present during the program. Dr. Vandana Jain, Organizing secretary and Head of the Department of PG Studies in Psychology welcomed the gathering and Ms. Shilpa Mohan, President of Departmental Association PEACE rendered vote of thanks. Dr. M.Y Manjula during the key note address highlighted the importance of relationship of human beings with flora, fauna and fellow creatures. A short movie \u2018SAMATHVA\u2019 written, directed and edited by Ms. Kavya .H, II M.Sc Psychology and conceptualized and enacted by the students of MSc Psychology was screened. The theme of the short movie was parenting style. The movie portrays that parents should give more time, attention, support, love and care to their children. The conference had technical session on therapies for relationships, changing trends in couple relationship by eminent practitioners like Dr. Ratna Issac and Dr. Vinod Chebbi from Bangalore. A workshop on Positive Parenting by Dr. Dharav Shah, Consultant Psychiatrist drew attention of the audience and got appreciation. Nearly 35 research articles by students, academicians and practitioners were also presented during scientific sessions. Best paper presentation award in the Students section and professionals section was awarded. During the valedictory on 26th February 2019 the chief guest of the program Dr. Vinod Chebbi said that he had been waiting for long to be a part of this kind of program and such programs are of great use in spreading awareness and eliminating social stigmas. Dr. B. Ganapayya delivered the presidential remarks.<\/p>\n
