Parallel technical session 4 & 5: Research designs in social sciences – I & II<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 4<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session was started with research methodology in social science. Different types of approaches were discussed. Mainly focused on Role of theory in research where the deductive and inductive approach was explained. Ethnographic methods are discussed in detail. Qualitative research methodology was given prominence in the speech. Observation, Interview, case study, focused group discussion, and Historical method was elaborated in the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second session was covered with the scientific method and its steps, phases of the observation method also discussed in detail. Activity as a researcher by observing the video was carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with that sampling technique and calculation part also covered in the speech. The sampling method using the excel sheet was made to learn. Some of the drawbacks in the research during data collection also explained clearly. Precautions to be taken during the data collection were explained neatly. Time duration for natural observation is also emphasized. Important links for review of literature were shared. Finally essential components of social investigation explained and comparison between cooking and research was used to make the participants understand the concept. The session was chaired by Ms. Ashwini Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of PG Psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parallel technical session 4 & 5: Writing a scientific research paper – I & II<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resource person: Dr. Juliet Mohan Raj, Assistant Professor, NITTE University Centre for Science Education & Research, Mangaluru<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 4<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed to enhance the scientific writing skills of faculty members, the session aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge on how to effectively structure and present their research in written form and emphasis on improving their chances of publication in high impact journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first part of session centered on understanding the various types of articles characteristics and purposes of each type helping participants to identify the most suitable format for their research. The session also covered the criteria for selecting suitable journals for publication, such as assessing a journals scope, audience and impact factor to ensure alignment with the researchers focus and goals. The session also provided comprehensive guidance on detailed structure of manuscript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 In this session the focusing is on formal writing. It was aimed to provide attendees with the techniques and best practices for writing a scientific research paper. Participants found the session highly effective as it particularly appreciating the activities that reinforced the concepts discussed. The session was chaired by Dr. Prarthana J, Associate Professor and Head, Department of PG Psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical session 6 & 7: Intellectual Property Rights & Patenting – I & II<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resource person: Dr. Purushothama Chippar, Professor & Vice Principal, St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facilitator introduced the concept of intellectual property, including its type and patents. The importance of IP rights in protecting intellectual creation and innovations was emphasized. The sessions provided a detailed explanation of patents and their purposes. The speaker provided practical knowledge to the participants through hands on experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants conducted a simulated patent search using online data bases to indentify existing patents relevant to their own research areas. This exercise helped them understand how to conduct through patent searches review articles and access existing IP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session on intellectual property rights and patents effectively combined theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The session concluded with a Q&A segment allowing participants to address specific questions and challenges related Intellectual property and patents. Dr. Shashiprabha, Assistant Professor, Department of PG Chemistry chaired the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
