\u201cIn order to achieve intellectual supremacy, students must focus on building a talent base that wills to transcend the limitations of academic learning and explore new things\u201d, said the NSS State Planning Officer Dr. Gananatha Shetty. He was addressing the student gathering as the chief guest of \u2018Achievers\u2019Day\u2019 observed at SDM College Ujire at Indraprastha, on 16 March.<\/p>\n

\u201cAcademic certificates are important on college level, but they do not validate an individual\u2019s talents. Nor does it mean that the student has acquired applicable knowledge. It takes motivated efforts towards expanding one\u2019s own boundaries through exploration of factors beyond what is taught in classrooms for that to happen\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach one is blessed with a set of skills and talents. Each one must exert efforts to discover and nourish them, so that they shall contribute towards our holistic growth. India does not lack for human resources, but it does lack skilled humans. There are individuals who possess degrees but are unable to write applications. In order to avoid such scenarios, every student must ensure that he or she ventures beyond the academics and develops a skill set. Cultural and sports activities are extremely helpful in this direction\u201d, Dr. Shetty continued.<\/p>\n

Dr. Shetty also stated \u201cWhen an individual lacks social, cultural, political and scientific awareness, he makes way for social media to incorporate in him a set of false beliefs. One should never limit oneself from learning. Endless learning shall ensure that an individual can never be fooled with false information. This quest for learning must also be accompanied by consideration for healthcare, time management and self- discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n

Presiding over the event, the Secretary of SDM Educational Society Dr. B Yashovarma stated \u201chard work always outdoes talent. Every student must ensure that he utilizes every opportunity provided at college to work harder and work up his talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Principal of the college Prof. T N Keshava congratulated all the achievers and wished them the best before they were awarded.<\/p>\n
