{"id":17340,"date":"2023-10-05T10:33:51","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T05:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sdmcujire.in\/?p=17340"},"modified":"2023-10-05T10:33:52","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T05:03:52","slug":"tulunadu-culture-a-mix-of-folk-and-vedic-traditions-says-dr-ganapayya-bhat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.sdmesociety.in\/sdmc\/tulunadu-culture-a-mix-of-folk-and-vedic-traditions-says-dr-ganapayya-bhat\/","title":{"rendered":"Tulunadu Culture a Mix of Folk and Vedic Traditions, Says Dr. Ganapayya Bhat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Tulunadu, a region in coastal Karnataka, is a  unique blend of folk and Vedic traditions, according to Dr. Pundikai Ganapayya  Bhat, a retired professor of ancient history and archaeology at Dhavala college  Moodubidiri.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">  Dr. Bhat was speaking at a special lecture on  &quot;Tulunadu Temple Culture&quot; organized by the History Department of Sri  Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College on Wednesday. &quot;Tulunadu is often  called the land of gods,&quot; Dr. Bhat said. &quot;The region is home to a  rich mix of folk and Vedic traditions. Folk traditions, such as spirit worship,  are rooted in the land, while Vedic traditions, such as temple worship, are  imported from outside. These two traditions have come together to create the  unique culture of Tulunadu.&quot;. Dr. Bhat said that the region is home to  over 4,000 temples, many of which are centuries old. He said that these temples  are a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">The lecture was attended by Dr. B.A. Kumar  Hegde, principal of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College; Dr. Sanmati  Kumar, head of the History Department; Dr. Abhijna Upadhyay, associate  professor; and Devadhas, student representative.
