Shramadhan in Farming
Dignity of labour through paddy, areca and vegetable fields tended by students.
Nestled under the sacred gaze of the Western Ghats in Ujire, Sri Siddhavana Gurukula offers a rare blend of 100% free boarding, college education, disciplined yoga, organic agriculture and Goshala seva, under the visionary benediction of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
Sri Siddhavana Gurukula does not merely house students; it smelts gold from raw clay. Character, humility, hard physical labour and selfless duty are woven into the heart alongside college degrees.

5:30 AM mornings • Open-air courtyard
When I was undergoing grueling IPS physical training at the National Police Academy, officers asked me where I built such lung stamina and spine agility. I smiled and whispered, 'The misty 5:30 AM Surya Namaskars on Siddhavana ground under master supervision.' Gurukula taught us that physical discipline is spiritual resilience.
Nishkama Karma • Soil connection
We didn't just study botany and commerce from textbooks. We waded knee-deep in monsoon mud, transplanted paddy saplings, harvested golden grains and cleared drainage canals. That dirt under our fingernails broke our ego. Today my agritech startup feeds thousands because Gurukula taught me the sanctity of mud and honest sweat.
Indigenous cows • Daily loving seva
Milking the cows at dawn, grooming the calves, cleaning the cattle shed and drinking hot pure milk straight from our Goshala gave me unconditional reverence for life. When dealing with complex corporate boardrooms today, the patience and kindness I practise comes directly from the gentle brown eyes of Siddhavana's cows.
Harmonium • Chanting • Inner stillness
The evening bell at 6:45 PM would gather hundreds of us. When our collective voices chanted the universal prayer — 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah' — with harmonium and mridangam, all worries vanished. Even now, whenever life creates anxiety, I shut my eyes and return to the fragrance of incense in the Siddhavana prayer hall.
Elected student ministers • Student-run hostel
There are no hired cooks or cleaners in Siddhavana. We took turns managing the dining hall, maintaining library quietness, keeping premises spotless and supporting weaker peers in mathematics and physics. That democratic self-reliance is why our alumni adapt seamlessly to any crisis anywhere in the globe.
Pure satvik nutrition • Dharmasthala prasada
My father was a poor daily-wage tailor who couldn't afford a single term of hostel fees in the city. Siddhavana took me in, gave me a clean room, three hot satvik meals a day, pure milk and books without charging one rupee. That unearned grace made me pledge to fund scholarships for 100 children every year.
From Brahma Muhurta to silent night study, every hour is dedicated to health, character, intellect and selfless duty. Select a phase to experience its essence.

Thousands of young men walked through the arched gateway as seekers and departed as pillars of society. Read memories penned by brothers across decades — or add your own voice to this living chronicle.
Goshala Care & Empathy
Waking up to help the mother cow deliver her calf at 4 AM taught me more about compassion and biology than 100 books. Siddhavana gives young men tender hearts along with strong minds.
Lifelong Brotherhood
We had no smartphones, no pocket money, no fancy clothes. Just two pairs of white dhotis and college uniforms. That shared simplicity fostered friendships that have now survived four decades. My batchmates are closer than blood brothers.
Discipline & Punctuality
People in Switzerland are world-famous for precision and time discipline. Honestly? Siddhavana Gurukula was stricter! The bell rang and 300 students were seated within 90 seconds. That clockwork punctuality is the secret fuel of my research career.
Universal Prayer & Mental Peace
The evening Sandhya Vandana in Siddhavana was transcendent. We had students from all backgrounds and communities singing with one voice. It broke down every illusion of caste and status. We were just brothers sitting on handwoven mats.
Agriculture & Dignity of Labor
The day I cleaned the drainage canal in the pouring Belthangady monsoon alongside our Gurukula warden, all my pride was washed away into the soil. I discovered that labour is prayer. Everything I know about permaculture began in those 40 acres.
Yoga & Physical Endurance
In my medical career, surgical marathons often last 11 straight hours without a chair. When younger doctors ask how I stay centred and calm, I tell them about Sri Siddhavana. Standing in Tadasana at 5:45 AM during misty Ujire mornings gave me an unshakeable spine.
