The Department of PG Studies and Research in Chemistry successfully organized the One Day National Level Seminar on Advances in Synthetic Organic Chemistryalong with the Chemistry Fest ‘CHEMSHODHANA-2025’on 24-03-2025 at SDM PG Centre, Ujire. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and researchers, making it a significant academic gathering.
The seminar featured two insightful sessions. The first session was delivered by Dr. Anilkumar G., Professor at MG University, Kottayam, who spoke on recent advancements in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, highlighting innovative research approaches and their real-world applications. The second session was led by Dr.Manjunatha Channapur, Principal Research Scientist at Syngenta Biosciences, Goa, who discussed emerging trends in chemical research, with a special focus on sustainability and industrial applications of green chemistry.
The Chemistry Fest, ‘CHEMSHODHANA-2025,’ featured seven engaging events that drew participants from 18 undergraduate and postgraduate colleges across Karnataka and Kerala. The fest provided a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and skills in chemistry through various competitions. In the undergraduate section, SDM College, Ujire emerged as the champions, while PPC Udupi secured the runners-upposition. In the postgraduate section, University College, Hampanakatta claimed the championship title, with Mangalore University, Konaje finishing as runners-up.
The event was meticulously organized under the leadership of Dr. Vasanth Kumar, Assistant Professor, as the Organizing Secretary, and Dr. Rajesh N Hegde, Assistant Professor, as the Joint Organizing Secretary. Student coordination was efficiently managed by Mr. Khushi R. Gowda and Ms. Varshitha. The seminar and fest were highly appreciated for their well-structured sessions and engaging activities, fostering academic exchange, research discussions, and a spirit of healthy competition among students. The event concluded on a high note, marking a memorable occasion in the academic calendar. Dr. SowmyaB.P., Dean, SDM PG Centre welcomed the gathering and Dr. Nefisath P., proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Sonakshi, II MSc Organic Chemistry and Ms. Farhan, I MSc Organic Chemistry hosted the program.
